DIY: Rubberstamp

This is my first attempt at rubber-cutting/rubber-stamping. I'd like to believe I did well. Love thy own. :p And where did I get the idea? From Alessa of www.lifeafterbreakfast.com I think I stumbled upon LifeAfterBreakfast during the first quarter of 2012. I'm not sure whether I was looking for yet another diy inspiration or vegetarian recipes. All I know is that, "she had me at hello." I spent many sleepless nights reading all her blog posts from present to its archives. She really impressed me and many times, I wished I had her life. Ha! I religiously follow her blog from then on and as of late, I see that Alessa's (first name basis.hehe) fascinated with rubber-stamping. I have no idea this would make a big shot to crafters and those who are fond of diy. I remember seeing my classmates carving into their rubber erasers when I was in grade school and high school. They would etch their names or initials on it so it'd be easier to find should it be misplaced. I've seen my neighbors with their initials etched on their slippers, too. I knew it was the same principle with rubber stamps but I really didn't care. Yes, I tried etching in erasers and pencils too but it was too much hard work for me.And fastforward to our present time, it's all the rage now. So here I am with my first attempt. I'm not a fan of the heart shape but this was the first that came to mind. I wanted a heart inside the heart shape. My rusty cutter made a sharp cut so the small heart looks a little imperfect. I was grinning like a kid in a candy store when I did the stamping. The heart shape rubbercut looks nice in paper. And it does look like Roxy's brand logo's distant cousin. ;p I used a cheap stamp pad and stamp pad ink because I was thinking that I might not like the outcome of this diy and that I would just waste my money on the materials. At this moment I'm already thinking of other shapes and objects to trace and cut in my rubber erasers. DIY is love.
